JANUARY 2008
Part of January was spent working and recreating Ice Climbing and Skiing, training as often as possible! Ice Festivals in Durango and Ouray as well as Climb like a Girl Clinics!

Carolyn Ice Bouldering in the park during a clinic.

The Ouray Ice Festival was it's usual "fest"; a multitude of clinics, climbers, a comp, parties, and a heartfelt memorial to climbing friends who had been lost to us. I enjoyed spending days with new people doing clinics for Grivel North America, Mammut, and Kayland. Followed by a few days of skiing in the San Juans and my own "Climb like a Girl, Ice!" Clinics.

After some chilly days in the San Juans involving lots of ice and skiing, I'm back in NM. Last weekend found me Mountain Biking in 43 degree temps on perfect trails. One of the beauties of NM in the winter; the trails are damp, sticky, and fast fast fast. The others...I can run to the mountains and ski or go rock climbing, depending on the weather.

Climbing in Socorro and with friends Timy Fairfield and Brandi Proffitt.

Seven of the next nine weeks find me climbing, guiding and training in NM; improvement is always a goal so I'll focus my own training and conditioning on improvement of strength and power for climbing; when not skiing!Check back and see how it's been and what's up for February!
